Call to Action!

Important Notice about Government Draft Consultation

UK home educators are in danger of losing some of their home educating freedoms! Respond to the consultation by 2 July!

There is helpful information to be found at The HE Byte to guide your responses.

There are also petitions opposing the consultation. You can sign at change.org and also at 38 Degrees.

The Facebook group Draft EHE Guidance Consultation Group is also seeking to mobilise home educators across the UK to petition their MP’s to oppose the consultation. Our MPs need to hear from us, otherwise as far as they’re concerned, most home educators are happy with the proposed changes to guidance and the associated call for mandatory registration, monitoring, home visits and potentially interviews with children. We need to make sure they know we are anything but happy, and the easiest way to do this is to sign a paper petition and ask them to present it to the House of Commons. Please join the Facebook group to get more information, and prepared petition forms which you can circulate, or use to collect signatures. It does not need to be signed by only home educators, and over 10’s can sign too – just need to be residents of the relevant constituency. This needs to be done URGENTLY to be handed in to MPs by 20 June, if there’s to be any chance of them being presented before the consultation ends.

We need to make it clear that the way in which this consultation is being conducted is unacceptable.
